Maw, Maw Hight, Nannie Jennie and Hazel I Miss You!!!!

I just finished making the dressin' for our Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow and I am a little happy and a little sad. Memories of my grandmothers and great grandmothers came flooding back like a dam in my heart opened up.

I absolutely love Thanksgiving and have so many wonderful memories of it over the years but the one that really sticks with me the most is that my grandmothers and great grandmothers made the BEST dressin' in the whole world and it was always the center of the meal...even more so than the turkey or the ham. They all made it practically the same and it may have all tasted slightly different but all was super yummy!!!

I remember helping them mix it all up and waiting very impatiently until it was ready. They would always let me have a little sample before the meal began because they knew it was my very favorite thing in the world.

It may sound crazy but while I was mixing up and baking my cornbread and then mixing up the dressin' I couldn't help but feel them with me looking over my shoulder. I really enjoyed being in the kitchen alone with my memories of them. I miss them all so much. They will all be remembered and missed tomorrow as our family gathers to give thanks without them.
