I really should be cleaning right now because we are having out of town guests come into town. They are scheduled to arrive in like an hour but I'm having a problem mustering up the motivation to get started. The house isn't a complete wreck but there are things out of place and I have a sink full of dirty dishes. I really hate doing dishes...I have a much too intimate relationship with my sink now days! We have always had a dishwasher and have never used it. To me it is much more of a hassle to pre-rinse, load, remember to unload and then unload. I would rather just wash by hand and have an excuse to not be able to do anything else for 10-15 minutes....I would rather do that but that's not to say I enjoy it by no means or stretch of the imagination.
The visitors are not staying with us at night but will be over here white a bit over the next few days during the day. I am actually really looking forward to the visits. My next few days will be different than my everyday! Yea! One of the people coming is my husbands grandma Ann (my kids adore her and call her Nannie Annie) and she is WONDERFUL! She and I laugh and say that we are close friends not grandmother in law and granddaughter in law. We talk several times a week and e-mail back and forth. I have always thought of myself as an old soul and it seems that my friendship with her confirms it. I am really a 75 year old stuck in a 30 year old body I guess! I have always made friends with older people quickly and easily. If people would take time to get to know them they would be quite surprised to discover that most of them are very fascinating and have so much wisdom to share....they have pretty much seen it all and lived through it so why not try to learn a thing or two from them? I just love being around her...the hours just fly by.
Well, I have procrastinated long enough I guess...dishes are calling me!
I hope you enjoy your company!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you don't use your dishwasher. My washing machine is the only home appliance that means more to me than my dishwasher. I load it throughout the day and start it after dinner. Unloading used to be my most hated household task, so now Matt unloads it in the morning. It's lovely.
We both have always attracted older people. We have signs on our foreheads that say "I like old people, please talk to me". Everyone love nannie Annie, she is a wonderful woman. She is truly such a great grandmother and great-grandmother. I hope you and the kids enjoy her visit.
